Cato Research Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Cato Holding Company, has created this Privacy Policy to describe its online collection and use practices. This notice describes only online information collection and use practices at www.cato.com (“Cato Site”), it does not apply to information Cato Research collects about you elsewhere, including at other Cato Research web sites, in email correspondences, or over the phone. The policy also does not apply to the information collection and use practices of Cato Holding Company or other Cato Holding Company subsidiaries or affiliates. Websites that are linked to the Cato Site may have different privacy practices and policies, so please review those websites’ notices carefully for details.
This privacy policy has been effective since July 14, 2006. In the future, the Cato Site may change and, if appropriate, we will revise this Privacy Policy and post the updated version here. If we alter our practices in a manner that will impact the treatment of information you have already provided, we will send you a notice of our new practices. If you do not agree with the privacy practices described in this Privacy Policy, you should not provide us with information.
INFORMATION COLLECTION AND USE
We collect name, contact information (email, phone, fax, and street address) and background information — such as job history or investigator skills — and other information sufficient to respond to your request. From time to time, Cato Research may allow individuals from outside of the United States to submit information on the Cato Site. By submitting information to the Cato Site, you understand that your information will be transferred out of your home country, and submitted to Cato Research in North Carolina, USA. By providing your information, you are unambiguously consenting to that transfer.
We use the information you submit to respond to your request. For example, if you sign up on our job applicant pages, we will process your application for the job about which you inquired, and we may also contact you if we see any additional job postings in which we believe you may be interested. If you register on our alumni registration pages, we will from time to time send you newsletters and other information that may be of interest to our former employees. Or, for example, if you sign up at the investigator registration page, we will include you on our list of interested investigators, and contact you when an appropriate clinical trial opportunity becomes available. We will also use the information you provide on the Cato Site to email, fax or call you about information in which we believe you may be interested, including information about Cato Research, our parents or affiliates, our respective products or services, or other products, services or information in which we believe you may be interested. We may also share your information under contract with trusted third parties in whose products or services we believe you may be interested, including for their own marketing purposes. As part of our regular business conduct, we also share information under contract with our agents, as well as with our parents, subsidiaries, or affiliates. (Contracts we enter into with agents and third parties require that they provide the same standards of privacy protection as those set forth in this policy.) For example, we may have a job listing posted for one of our foreign affiliates, and should you express interest in that job, we will share your information with the appropriate affiliate. Similarly, one of our foreign affiliates may be looking for an investigator, and we may share your information with our affiliate if we believe that they are looking for an investigator with your background. In the unlikely event that there is a change of corporate ownership, the new owners will of course be provided with Cato Research files, including information you have submitted to us at the Cato Site. We will also share information with government officials in order to cooperate with a legitimate investigation, or as may otherwise be required by law. We will maintain the information you provide for as long as we believe necessary to comply with the terms of this privacy policy.
